Information marketing or info business for short; is selling packaged information that helps people solve a problem.
The most common types of info products include; video courses, and ebooks.
I know you get it now, but to make it abundantly clear, let me give you an example.
How Info Business Works
Let’s assume you know how immigrants can get the US Green Card as quickly as possible.
(NOTE: it might be illegal to write about this).
Since this is something many people may want to learn about, you can package the information into a PDF guide and set a decent price point — $20 – $100 is a good price point.
Side note: Your price has to make sense compared to the cost of inaction or alternatives.
In our example, your customer may need to hire lawyers and that will cost a lot of money.
If they choose to research on the internet, it would take a lot of time for them to find the information.
Besides, they can’t tell which information is correct.
Considering all these factors; we can set our price at $100.
So we have our product, and we also have a suitable price in mind.
The Results?
Now, if you sell 1,000 copies (…which is easy to do if you know how), you would have made $100,000.
You might be wondering why anyone would pay for information when it can be found online —for free.
I think it’s for the same reason why we buy bottled water even when there’s an abundance of it freely available:
Simple and short, it has been purified.
When you take the knowledge you already have or discover through deliberate research and document it in such a way that it gives CLARITY about how to do something, you have just created value.
And nobody should judge you when people line up, money in hand, begging you to take their money!
This is a lucrative online opportunity many people don’t know about.
Info product creators can make anywhere from – $5,000 – $100,000 per month.
Before I continue, let me debunk some of the common Myths around the Info business.
Pay No Heed To These Info Business Myths
If you listen to a lot of wrong information, you might get discouraged by people who have never started an info business.
Here are some of the common myths about info businesses.
If you find anyone else, let me know in the comment section
Myth 1— You Need To Be An Expert To Start An Info Business
No! What you need to do is deliver products that solve problems for customers.
The question you may ask is how do you do that since you are not an expert?
People are not looking for “experts” to learn from.
They want to learn from people just like them who have solved the same problems they have.
You can pick almost any niche or industry and create products for them
If you are in a niche (e.g. medical) where you need to be licensed before creating products, then follow the advice in the next myth…
Myth 2— Creating An Info Product Is Hard And Costly
If you are not an expert in a field it may be difficult to create a product that solves a specific problem but the good news is…
There are ways around this.
One is to partner with an expert to create the product for a fixed price or a share of the profits.
The second way around this is to do the research yourself or hire someone to do it for you.
Now for the cost part…
The price to make your product market-ready depends on the form your product takes.
Videos courses and ebooks, don’t cost much to create; your major investment going to be time.
Myth 3— Running An Info Business Is Time-consuming
Nothing could be further from the truth. Show me any business where you work a few hours a week, and make 7 to 8 figures.
You don’t have to manage inventory, customer deliveries, etc.
After the product is created, continues to make you money for the foreseeable future.
I don’t know of any besides digital product business
Yes, it does require time to research and create a product but…
Once that is done, you sit back and earn passive income, working only a few hours per week.
Info Business Success Keys
Key 1— Product Discovery & Creation:
Your ability to figure out a product that solves a valuable problem.
For me, I start with a problem that many people are struggling to solve.
Once I find such a challenge, I have found my next product.
After discovering a product idea, you need to create the product.
If you started reading from the beginning and you’ve been following, this shouldn’t be an issue.
I already outlined different methods for creating an information product, whether you’re an expert or not.
Key 2— Copywriting Skill
To succeed in the info-marketing business, you must be able to write highly persuasive content on your product sales page.
FYI: A sales page is a standalone page created to turn prospects into paying customers.
The singular job of the sales page is to tell the website visitor what their problem is, why the problem needs to be solved, how your product can help them solve it better than anything else on the market, and what to do next to get your product.
We measure how effective a sales copy is based on the conversion rate.
So if 1,000 people visit a sales page and 50 of them take action (a.k.a. purchase my product)… that page has a 5% conversion rate.
On average, good sales pages convert anywhere around 2% – 20%, depending on the type of traffic the page receives.
Key 3— Driving Traffic
Okay.
You have created your product, and designed a highly persuasive sales page, what’s next is…
Driving Traffic.
This is very important to your success because, if people don’t see your sales page, they won’t buy.
Which means all your effort has been for nothing.
There are two key components of driving traffic…
The Who & The What
The Who
This refers to targeting options. Who gets to see your advert?
Let me explain with two scenarios:
Scenario A
You are selling a book that can help extremely slim people add some healthy weight but those seeing your advert are all plus size.
Scenario B
You are selling a book that can help fat people shed 10kg in 4 weeks and those seeing your advert are all plus size.
Question
Between both scenarios, which advert would perform best?
You don’t have to be a genius to pick scenario B as the better-performing campaign.
To get your targeting options right, I advise you to download a customer avatar worksheet and answer the questions there.
Next, we look at the…
The What
What am I going to say to these people in my ad?
Your copywriting skills will be tested here again.
But… don’t try to make the sale in your ad.
All you need to do is get the person interested enough to want to learn more.
So that they can click the link on your advert and land on…
You guessed right.
Land on your persuasive sales page!
Things You Need To Start An Info Business
1— Website
You need to create a simple website where you can host the sales page for your info product.
Your website also helps to automate several aspects of your business.
Such as; delivering the product to customers, collecting payment, etc.
This is what allows you to continue to earn while you sleep.
Now, you can’t have a website without…
2— Domain and Web hosting
A domain name is the name of your website address. e.g. gojuku.com.
Your web hosting is where you host your website so that it is accessible on the internet.
You can get both for a decent price; just search online.
Domain name registration can be done using Namecheap. Get top-quality hosting on Cloudways.
3— Email Marketing (optional)
It is wise to build an email list from the beginning; so you can nurture your leads into buying your info product for those that didn’t buy immediately.
This will make you a lot more money than you can imagine. It’s optional. But I highly recommend you consider it.
I use Birdsend to send emails to my subscribers every week. It’s the most affordable email marketing service, but guess what?
They do a better job at delivering emails than some of the higher-priced tools.
Seems like a lot?
Don’t worry, it’s not expensive to create a website and you don’t need to be a tech wizard to do this.
I have resources that will show you how to build your website yourself for less than $5.
Just keep reading to learn more about it.
Wrapping It Up!
Information marketing is a highly profitable online business.
The world’s richest man – Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon is investing in this direction and you should too.
Imagine if you are an auto mechanic or have a very good one around you
You can leverage that to create a product like “101 car malfunctions, causes and how to fix them”
Every car owner would want to get his hands on such a book, so he can reference it when he has issues and doesn’t want to get cheated by auto mechanics.
Sidenote: This example is a product I am interested in, if you can create the product, send me an email and I will partner with you to make it happen
The best part is that you can replicate this for any niche.
With the right training, you can easily start making a 7 figure income
How do I know this?
I do because I have trained several people and the result speaks for itself.
If you ask me what my recommended online business for starters is?
It is this one!
